With its 100-liter capacity and versatile applications, the MMPS Vulcan is a true classic among military backpacks, equally suited for civilian tours without looking overly militaristic. It's no wonder that the Vulcan, now in its fifth generation, is probably the most popular of all Berghaus backpacks.
The pack's volume is divided into a large 80-liter main compartment, a bottom compartment, and two 10-liter MMPS side pockets. The main and bottom compartments are separated by a snow skirt, which can be opened or closed with a drawstring. The two detachable 10-liter MMPS side pockets can be zipped together to create a daypack (shoulder straps, chest strap, and armrest straps are included in the top compartment). Multiple compression straps and MOLLE webbing allow for the secure attachment of additional gear.
The Berghaus Vulcan V backpack is equipped with the tried-and-tested Cyclops II carrying system, specifically designed for heavy loads. The internal frame is made of a durable HE30TF aluminum alloy, making the system lightweight yet robust. The accompanying carrying system is extra strong and designed to optimally distribute the load across the wearer's back. Carrying comfort is enhanced by a chest strap and Power-Synch straps on the hip belt. The Power-Synch system tightens the hip belt by pulling two straps forward.

The Berghaus story began in 1966 when an English mountaineering couple founded the outdoor equipment store LD Mountain Center. Over time, Berghaus designed, tested, and sold its own gear based on the actual needs of mountaineers. Today, the brand is among the very best outdoor equipment manufacturers. Production for the army began during the Falklands War, when the British Army needed a backpack for specific conditions.
