The replacement cleaning cartridges for the GRAYL® UltraPress™ water filter drinking bottle are designed for a service life of 300 cycles (150 liters). Lifespan decreases when water is purified with high levels of silt, sediment, or tannins. The pressing time of the cartridge increases towards the end of the cartridge's life. When the print time reaches 25-30 seconds, the cartridge should be replaced. The cartridge continues to protect even if the pressing time increases.

• Cartridge life: rated for 300 cycles (150 liters), when the "press time" reaches ~25 seconds (or three years have passed since first use), it is time to replace the cleaning cartridge
• Cartridge shelf life: When stored properly, an unused (and hermetically sealed) cleaning cartridge has a shelf life of 10 years
