The "diesel witch" plays a key role in the company history of Petromax: During an adventure trip with a Magirus Deutz, built in 1963, Jonas Taureck has a breakdown in the middle of the African desert. He has to charge the vehicle's batteries. Instead of electricity, he finds the forgotten HK500 high-intensity lamp in a brightly lit desert village in Niger. This is the second birth of Petromax: Jonas Taureck brings the brand rights and production back to Germany in order to renew the traditional brand.
The Magirus-Deutz truck was a popular expedition vehicle. It was robust, maneuverable and spacious enough to carry supplies on a tour lasting several weeks. Jonas Taureck's vehicle still had an air-cooled Deutz four-stroke diesel engine for a tour across the African continent, much more suitable than the modern water-cooled diesel engines, which are much more sensitive to heat.
The detailed model will make collectors' hearts beat faster. The miniature version of the "Diesel Witch" is a front-wheel drive vehicle, the windshield wipers are part of the body and the front fenders are fitted with dipsticks. Running boards, headlights, door handles, trim strips, a large roof rack and a spare wheel - everything is just like the large original vehicle. Even the license plate is the same: The "MD" stands for Magdeburg, the location of the Petromax company.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the HK500 high-intensity lamp, Petromax is releasing the legendary “Diesel Witch” as a model car in 1:43 scale. The special model with the characteristic dragon logo and stylized images of the HK500 is unique and limited.
