The SAM® XT tourniquet consists of lightweight bonded fabrics, durable nylon polymers, aluminum, and an acetal copolymer buckle with stainless steel springs.

The SAM® Extremity Tourniquet features a pre-tensioning buckle that addresses a current performance gap identified by the military community among competing products – slack control. The TRUFORCE™ buckle locks into the belt when sufficient circumferential force is applied, ensuring consistent initial tension of the SAM® Extremity Tourniquet before final tightening with the anchor winch to achieve bleeding control.

The TRUFORCE™ buckle features a tab for unlocking the buckle for readjustment or removal. The TRUFLEX™ plate is made of a flexible nylon polymer that allows it to adapt to various body sizes and anatomical dimensions. The C-hooks on the TRUFLEX™ plate feature an intuitive angled design. The time wristband is made of weather-resistant fabric and is a highly visible location to mark the time the SAM® Extremity Tourniquet was applied, alerting clinical staff how long the device has been in use.
