The Silva Ranger S compass features a grippy ring, a detachable carrying strap with a safety release, and luminous markings for navigation in the dark. The Ranger compass has scales on the base plate for easier distance measurement. The scales are 1:25,000 and 1:50,000.
A sighting compass is a compass with an integrated mirror that allows you to clearly see the compass needle when aiming at a point on the terrain. This enables you to take more accurate bearings than with a standard ruler compass. This type of compass is best suited for use in open terrain when determining directions over long distances. This is because you can keep your eyes on the compass while scanning the landscape.
The compass has a detachable lanyard with scale markings and also serves as a ruler. The scales are 1:25 and 1:50. Use it to calculate the distance of your route. The lanyard is soft and easy to use. Simply place the lanyard directly on the map to quickly and easily measure the distance you are currently traveling or planning to travel.

Silva is a Swedish premium brand for outdoor equipment, such as headlamps, compasses, backpacks, and packs. In 1933, Björn, Alvar, and Arvid Kjellström, together with Gunnar Tillander, invented the very first liquid-filled compass, and the story began. It was not only the first compass of its kind but also set the worldwide standard for modern navigation. In 1935, they launched the first headlamp, and the Silva brand was born.
