A targeting compass is a compass with an integrated mirror that allows you to clearly see the compass needle when aiming at a point on the terrain. This allows you to take more accurate bearings than with a standard ruler compass. This type of compass is best used in open terrain when you want to determine directions over long distances. This is because you keep your eyes on the compass as you look across the terrain.
