In addition, rescue blankets are a mandatory part of a car first aid kit in Germany.
The Tatonka emergency blanket protects against hypothermia, wetness or wind, for example when the weather changes on outdoor tours and hikes. In order to retain a person's own body heat, the silver side must be turned inwards. The warmth is not provided by insulation, but by reflecting the body's heat radiation.
If a person needs to be protected from overheating, the gold side is turned inwards. But be careful: do not wrap the person up! Instead, the rescue blanket should be used as a kind of sun protection sail.
